Founding Marketing Lead
About Us
DeepIP is the AI platform transforming how the world's most innovative companies protect their inventions. Embedded directly into Microsoft Word and existing IP management systems, we cover the full patent lifecycle and are trusted by 400+ law firms and corporate IP teams, including Greenberg Traurig and Dexcom.
We have grown 10x ARR in 18 months (213% NRR) and raised $40M. 2026 is the year our clients move from proof-of-concept to production infrastructure. Extraordinary transformations are happening inside their organizations right now. Your job is to find them, shape them, make the world feel them — and then build the operational machine that puts those stories in front of every IP professional on earth.
The Role
This is a dual-nature role. Most people are one or the other. We need both.
The Storyteller : Crafts narratives that make IP professionals stop scrolling. Has a felt sense for tone, rhythm, and what is off about a piece before anyone can articulate it. Turns a client transformation into something peers recognize themselves in.
The Operator : Runs events from brief to debrief. Manages agencies with clear standards. Owns a content calendar across geographies. Builds systems so the next event is easier than the last. Does not wait for process - creates it.
You will work alongside our Head of Growth - technically strong, pipeline-focused - to build the brand gravity that makes DeepIP the obvious choice for serious IP teams. Where Growth owns the funnel mechanics, you focus on the moments that make the brand visible in the IP world: client stories, practitioner voices, and field presence.
These are two different muscles and you need both.
You’ll also work closely with our Content Marketing Manager to keep everything aligned. They own the TOFU/MOFU content engine and editorial calendar that drive awareness and thought leadership, while you focus on BOFU content.
One more thing: you default to AI as your toolset. Not as a novelty - as a multiplier. You use it to draft faster, research deeper, repurpose smarter, and operate at a scale that would otherwise require a team of three. This is non-negotiable.
What You'll Do
1 · Craft & Own the Client Story Engine
Build DeepIP's library of client success narratives - case studies, video stories, press features, panel moments - that show how real teams transformed their IP operations
Develop a systematic intake process: capturing wins as they happen, not six months later
Interview clients, find the specific human moment inside the business outcome, and shape it into something peers recognize as true
Calibrate tone and register precisely - a corporate IP counsel at a Fortune 500 reads differently than a boutique prosecution firm partner. You know the difference.
2 · Shape DeepIP’s Brand Through Client & Product Moments
Ensure DeepIP’s brand shows up with clarity and credibility in high-impact, BOFU touchpoints - client stories, product launches, event materials, keynote decks, and sales narratives.
Partner with the Content Marketing Manager to maintain DeepIP's voice: technically credible, human, never generic
Act as the taste layer across all high-impact external channels. You are the person who says 'this isn't right yet' and can explain why
Brief designers, video editors, and agencies with precision - not vibes. Your creative briefs have a point of view.
Use AI tools (Claude, Perplexity, Midjourney, etc.) as native instruments to produce first drafts, explore directions, and scale content without scaling headcount.
3 · Build & Run Local Presence Across Markets
Own DeepIP's on-the-ground footprint across the US, France, and expansion markets - not just logistics, but the feel of it
Plan and execute local events: client dinners, practitioner roundtables, association meetups. End-to-end: venue, speakers, run-of-show, follow-up, debrief
Manage the local presence calendar across geographies with the same rigor you would bring to a product roadmap
Build relationships with IP associations (AIPPI, FICPI, CNCPI, INTA chapters, local bar associations) from the ground up - not as a vendor but as a trusted presence
4 · Make Clients Shine
Turn DeepIP clients into recognized voices in the IP world - nominate them for awards, place them on conference panels, pitch their stories to industry press
Design and run intimate client events (roundtables, dinners) that deepen relationships and create organic advocates
Build a client community program with recurring touchpoints that make users feel part of something larger than a software subscription
5 · Maximize Distribution & Impact
Coordinate with the Head of Growth and the Content Marketing Manager to define the best distribution approach for each asset ensuring maximum impact and visibility.
Coordinate with growth on content that feeds pipeline - case studies timed to deals, testimonials surfaced in late-stage conversations
Track what lands. Kill what doesn't. Iterate fast.
Identify and activate local influencers, practitioners with a following, and IP media editors - build genuine relationships, not transactional ones
6 · Operate as a Founding Team Member
This is a solo contributor role initially - you build the systems that will eventually support a team
Manage freelancers and agencies (designers, video, PR, event production) with clear briefs and high expectations
Work directly with the CEO on narrative alignment, external messaging, and investor-facing content where needed
Use AI tools by default to multiply your output - content repurposing, research, first-draft generation, translation, event comms
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
2–5 years in B2B marketing, brand, communications, product marketing or field marketing - with a clear track record of owning things end-to-end
You have produced content - stories, campaigns, events - and can show the output and explain what worked and what didn't
You have a calibrated aesthetic sense: strong opinions about tone, design, and narrative that you can defend and that turn out to be right
You are an operator: you have run events, managed vendors, owned a calendar, and built systems from scratch
You default to AI tools. Not experimenting - actually using them daily to produce more, faster
You write with precision and feel. English fluency required; French a strong plus.
You earn trust quickly with expert audiences - IP professionals, lawyers, technical practitioners
Strong Plusses
Familiarity with IP, legal tech, or professional services ecosystems
Prior founding team or very early-stage startup experience (sub-30 people)
Experience building local presence across multiple countries from scratch
Network within IP associations, legal media, or innovation / R&D communities
Experience placing clients or partners on external stages, in press, or in industry awards
This Role Is Probably Not for You If…
You need an established brand, a large team, or a defined playbook to produce good work
You separate 'creative' from 'operational' - you prefer one and tolerate the other
Your relationship with AI tools is still experimental or skeptical
You are not willing to be in a room with IP practitioners regularly - the field presence is real, not ceremonial
You attribute your best work to the brand you worked at rather than to what you specifically built
Compensation & Context
Competitive base salary · Meaningful early-stage equity · Travel budget for field presence · Direct access to the founding team
You will have visibility into every part of the company. The decisions you make in the first 12 months will shape DeepIP's brand for years.
